Jakarta - Bank Indonesia noted that the manufacturing sector's performance in the third quarter of 2021 indicated a decline as reflected in the Bank Indonesia's Prompt Manufacturing Index (PMI-BI) of 48.75%, lower than 51.45% in the second quarter of 2021.

"However, the decline is relatively not as deep as the third quarter of 2020 which reached 44.91%," said Head of the BI Communications Department Group Head, Muhamad Nur, on Wednesday (13/10).

The decline in the PMI-BI is in line with the manufacturing sector activities resulting from the Business Activity Survey (BAS), which contracted slightly amid the mobility restriction policy in the third quarter of 2021.

The decline occurred in all components that make up PMI-BI, especially receipts of input orders, total employees, production volumes, and finished goods inventory volumes, which were in a contraction phase.
