BI: Consumer Confidence Remains Strong in 2021
Jakarta - The Bank Indonesia Consumer Survey indicated that consumer optimism for economic conditions would remain strong in December 2021.
"The optimism was reflected in the December 2021 Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) of 118.3 or the optimistic area, relatively stable compared to the index in November 2021 of 118.5," said BI's Head of Corporate Communications Erwin Haryono, in a statement on Monday (10/1).
On a quarterly basis, the CCI for the fourth quarter of 2021 was recorded at 116.8, an increase compared to 84.3 in the third quarter of 2021 and 89.2 in the fourth quarter of 2020.
"Consumer optimism remained strong in December 2021, supported by consumer perceptions of the current improving economic conditions, " he added.
The increase was mainly related to consumer perceptions of current income and job availability. Meanwhile, consumer expectations for future economic conditions remained optimistic (index > 100), although not as high as the previous month.
