BI: Indonesia Foreign Debt Increases 2.7% YoY to US423.5 Billion in August


Jakarta - Bank Indonesia announced that Indonesia's foreign debt (ULN) at the end of August 2021 was recorded at US$423.5 billion or grew 2.7% (YoY), higher than the previous month's growth of 1.7% (YoY).

"This development was mainly due to an increase in the growth of public sector external debt (the Government and the Central Bank)," said Head of the BI Communications Department Group Muhammad Nur in a press release on Friday (15/10).

He explained that the government's external debt position in August 2021 was US$207.5 billion or grew 3.7% (YoY), slightly increasing from 3.5% (YoY) in the previous month. The development of external debt was caused by the inflow of capital from foreign investors in the Government Bond market in line with positive sentiment in domestic Government Bonds management performance.
