BI: Consumer Confidence in February Starts to Increase
Consumer confidence in February 2021 began to increase, a consumer survey by Bank Indonesia (BI) showed. The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) for February 2021 of 85.8 was a relative increase from 84.9 in January 2021, BI said.
"The improvement is supported by improved consumer perceptions of current economic conditions, although consumer expectations for future economic conditions have decreased slightly but are stable," said Executive Director, Head of the BI Communication Department, Erwin Haryono, in BI report, on Monday (8/3).
Improvements in consumer perceptions of current economic conditions are reflected in the current Economic Condition Index (ECI) for February 2021, which stood at 65.1 or improved from 63.0 in the previous month.
However, the Consumer Expectation Index (CEI) for February 2021 was recorded at 106.5, down slightly from the achievement in January 2021 of 106.7.
In February 2021, the CCI experienced an increase in the respondent group with Rp's expenditure levels 1 million to Rp. 3 million per month. In terms of age, CCI's rise occurred in 20 years to 30 years and 41 years to 60 years.
From a spatial perspective, BI observed consumer confidence in February 2021 to increase in 7 cities covered by the survey, with the highest increase occurring in the city of Surabaya with 19.9 points, Manado 17.2 points, and Makassar by 11.7 points.
