Fined Rp1 Billion By KPPU, Garuda Says it Follows Legal Process


PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk states that it fully respects the ongoing legal process.

President Director of Garuda Irfan Setiaputra, in a statement, responded to the results of the trial decision of the Business Competition Supervision Commission (KPPU) regarding the alleged Business Competition Law no. 5 of 2019 concerning monopolistic practices and unfair business competition on Thursday (8/7). The commission trial decided to impose a fine of Rp1 billion on Garuda.

"Garuda Indonesia will also study the results of the trial decision to consider the legal steps to be taken by always prioritizing the principles of transparency and accountability," Irfan said in his statement on Monday (12/7).

According to Irfan, the KPPU's decision follows allegations of discriminatory practices against Umrah ticket sales partners in 2019.
