First Session, JCI Falls 0.19% to 6,289


The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) in the first trading session today, Tuesday (23/3), fell 11.71 points or 0.19% to 6,289.42.

One hundred sixty stocks were rising, 308 stocks weakening, and 149 stocks were unchanged. The total volume of transactions reached 12.21 billion shares with a total market turnover of Rp5.81 trillion.

Seven sectoral indices fell and dragged the JCI. Weakening from the deepest was the basic industry sector which fell 1.32%. The construction sector lost 0.78%, the infrastructure sector decreased 0.35%, and trade and services fell 0.29%.

Furthermore, the manufacturing sector fell 0.18%, the mining sector fell at a level of 0.12%, and the financial sector fell at a level of 0.10%.

Meanwhile, the top gainers in the LQ45, were PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk (INDF) which rose 5.51%, PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk (ICBP) gained 4.25%, PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk (ITMG) increased by 3 , 21%.

Meanwhile, stocks among the LQ45 top losers included PT Japfa Tbk (JPFA), which fell 5.50%, PT Mitra Keluarga Kary Advisor Tbk (MIKA) dropped 4.42%, PT Pabrik Kertas Tjiwi Kimia Tbk (TKIM) slipped 4.12%.

Foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp74.96 billion in all markets. The stocks with the largest foreign net sales were PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) worth Rp66.2 billion, PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK) Rp15.4 billion, and PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO) Rp11.2 billion.

The stocks with the largest foreign net purchases were PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI), which amounted to Rp65.3 billion, PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) Rp21.2 billion, and PT Bakrie Sumatra Plantation Tbk (UNSP) Rp12.8 billion.
