Jakarta - PT HM Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP) announced the realization of an investment with a total value of US$166.1 million for the development of production for tobacco stems for Iqos under the Heets brand in Karawang, West Java.

"The production facility, which is scheduled to operate in the fourth quarter of 2022, will meet domestic market demand and focus on the export market in the Asia Pacific region," said Sampoerna President Director Mindaugas Trumpaitis in a press release on Tuesday (30/11).

He considered that the construction of the production facility was part of Sampoerna's commitment to creating long-term economic value in Indonesia by prioritizing innovation, scientific research, and technology.

The facility will be Philip Morris International's (PMI) seventh production facility globally and second in Asia and is an expansion of Sampoerna's production facility located in Karawang.
