Jakarta - PT HM Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP) has realized an investment in the IQOS smokeless tobacco product factory with the HEETS brand, worth US$186 million.

The HEETS factory is Philip Morris International's (PMI) production facility for innovative smoke-free tobacco products, the first in Southeast Asia and the seventh in the world.

According to Sampoerna's President Director Vassilis Gkatzelis, the HEETS factory in Indonesia is focused on meeting the demand for the export market in the Asia Pacific region and the domestic market, in line with the government's priority to encourage investment and increase exports of finished goods.

"We hope that this investment will help strengthen Indonesia's position as an investment destination from within and outside the country," said Vassilis in a press release on  Tuesday (17/1).
