The selective buying action by market players was the driving force behind the strengthening of the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) at the opening of trading Thursday by 3.48 points.

"Along with the JCI, this morning the Nikkei index opened up 0.81%, as well as the Kospi 0.10," said PT Samuel Sekuritas Research in Jakarta.

The JCI on Thursday opened up 3.48 points (0.06%) to 6,159.62. Meanwhile, the leading stock index LQ45 rose 1.64 points (0.18%) to the position of 927.6.
