JCI Opens Falling 0.60% to 6,211


The Jakarta Composite Index at the opening of trading today, on Wednesday (24/3), fell 0.60% to 6,211,464.

One hundred nine stocks were rising, 264 stocks weakening, and 142 stocks unchanged. The total trading volume reached 2.6 billion shares with a turnover of 1.5 trillion.

Nine out of 10 sectoral indices tumbled. The mining sector declined the most by 1.37%. Meanwhile, only the industrial miscellaneous industry rose 0.01%.

The selling action of foreign investors also dragged JCI in this morning's trade. Market trade recorded foreign investors were net sellers worth Rp53.130 billion.

Meanwhile, stock markets in Asia-Pacific mostly were lower in today's trading as fears of a global recovery from the pandemic weighed on investor sentiment.

Japan's Nikkei 225 Index slipped 1.1% in morning trade, and the Topix index fell 1.49%. In South Korea, the Kospi was down 0.11%.

Mainland Chinese stocks also fell, the Shanghai Composite fell 0.5%, and Shenzhen Component fell 0.308%. The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong slumped 0.49%.

Stocks in Australia bucked the overall trend on a regional basis as the S&P/ ASX 200 index rose 0.55%.

The MSCI index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan trades 0.43% lower.
