PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk posted a net profit during the first quarter of 2021 of around Rp.5.918 trillion or a 25.24% decrease compared to the same period last year of Rp7.916 trillion.

"The decline in net profit was due to the high cost of impairment loss of around 55.42% or to Rp5.408 trillion from Rp3.479 trillion," said Bank Mandiri President Director Darmawan Junaidi in an online press conference on Tuesday (26/4).

Also, the fee-based income fell  1.62% or to Rp7.614 trillion as of March this year from the same period last year at the level of Rp7.738 trillion.

Nevertheless, Bank Mandiri maintained the operating income growth rate of around 7.16% to Rp25.612 trillion from Rp23.899 trillion. The support was an increase in net interest income by 12.6% to Rp17.5 trillion.
