Money Supply Grows 8% YoY in September


Jakarta - Bank Indonesia announced that economic liquidity or money supply in a broad sense (M2) in September 2021 grew by 8% YoY or to Rp7,287.3 trillion, compared to the previous month's growth of 6.9% (YoY).

"This increase was mainly driven by higher growth in the narrow money supply component (M1) which reached 11.2% (YoY) and quasi money which grew 4.5% (YoY)," BI Executive Director Erwin Haryono in an official publication on Monday (25/10).

M2 growth in September 2021 was mainly influenced by lending. Loan disbursement grew by 2.0% (YoY), an increase compared to the previous month's achievement of 1.0% (YoY).

On the other hand, slowing growth in Net Receivables to the Central Government and Net Foreign Assets restrained higher growth in the money supply. Net Receivables to the Central Government grew by 16.1% (YoY), slowing from 21.1% (YoY) the previous month.
