PLN Receives US$25.3 Million Project in Kuwait
PT PLN through its business entity, PT Cogindo Daya Bersama (Cogindo), signed a contract for operation and maintenance of the electricity distribution network at the Ministry of Electricity and Water of Kuwait worth US$25.3 million.
The signing was represented by NAPCO as a local company and a partner of Cogindo in the Gulf Country project and witnessed directly by the Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait, Tri Tharyat.
Tri Tharyat hopes that the success of Cogindo can open the door to investment in state-owned enterprises and Indonesian companies and support the increase in Indonesian skilled and skilled workforce in Kuwait.
"Indonesia can be proud of this achievement because it has been able to show competitiveness and has won the trust of Kuwait. I hope the project goes well, which will be a positive note for the Kuwaiti Government on the performance of Indonesian companies, "said Tri Tharyat in a press release, on Friday (2/4).
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Cogindo Ade Hendratno said this contract was proof that Indonesia could compete globally.
"In the midst of a contractionary economic situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Cogindo is actually able to expand its business to the global market (overseas). This is very prestigious and is proof that we can compete in the global market, "he said.
Through this contract, Cogindo will maintain the electricity distribution network throughout Kuwait, which has 17,818 km2. This area is half of the area of West Java Province, which reaches 35,378 km2. The 36-month contract will require around 300 workers.
As a prerequisite for working on projects in the Gulf States, Cogindo collaborates with local partners who are registered with the Ministry of Electricity & Water (Ministry of Electricity & Water) and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), namely NAPCO.
