SAM Sees Economy to Expand More in Second Quarter
PT Sinarmas Asset Management (SAM) said its optimism for the economy to expand more in the second quarter of this year.
"This is in line with the government's optimism that the economy in the second quarter of 2021 can grow between 7% and 8% year on year (YoY), investment will also include mutual funds," said Head of Marketing Communication SAM, Reney Mosal via a press release. Friday (16/4).
Based on the industry, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) noted, managed funds for the mutual fund industry as of April 7, 2021, reached Rp 578.13 trillion or grew by 0.18% compared to last year's Rp573.54 trillion.
Yunita Linda Sari, Deputy Commissioner for Capital Market Supervision II, Yunita Linda Sari, explained that the growth in managed funds is in line with the growth in mutual fund products.
"As of April 7, 2021, the number of mutual fund products has reached 2,244 products, an increase of 1.26% from the end of 2020 which reached 2,219 products," said Yunita.
Most of the mutual fund products consist of 867 protected mutual funds, 320 fixed income mutual funds, 272 equity mutual funds, 201 money market mutual funds, and 196 mixed mutual funds. At the same time, the rest are Islamic mutual funds, index mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds (ETF).
The growth in managed funds was also supported by individual investors' growth (single investor identification / SID). As of February 2021, OJK recorded that the number of investors reached 4.51 million people. Of this number, mutual fund investors contributed the most, amounting to 3.82 million people or grew 20.49% from the end of 2020, stock investors of 2.05 million people, and Government Bond investors around 497.06 thousand people.
