Minister Sri Mulyani Sees Economy to Grow 3.1-3.3% in First Semester


Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati estimates that economic growth in the first semester of this year will be at the level of 3.1-3.3%.

"In the first quarter, we were minus 0.7%. In the second quarter, we estimate economic growth at around 7%. So that the realization of the first semester of growth is 3.1-3.3%," she said at a press conference on the results of the Plenary Session in Jakarta on Monday (5/7).

According to Sri Mulyani, growth in the second half of this year is still very dependent on handling COVID-19, especially how many increases are exposed and the tightening applied.

"If the scenario is moderate enough, namely July can be controlled and in August 2021 there will be normal activity, then the restrictions are reduced, then the economy will grow at growth conditions that can be above 4% or even close to 5% in the second quarter," he explained.
