Surya Esa Collaborates with JOGMEG, Mitsubishi to Work on Blue Carbon


PT Surya Esa Perkasa Tbk (ESSA) through PT Panca Amara Utama (PAU) and Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), Mitsubishi Corporation (MC), and the Bandung Institute of Technology have signed an MoU on carbon absorption, utilization, and storage for producing and developing blue carbon or Blue Ammonia in Indonesia.

"We are honored to be able to work with a trusted partner with a strong track record and commitment and shared thoughts towards the environment," said ESSA President Director Vinod Laroya in a press release on Friday (19/3).

The company plans to realize this celebration at its ammonia factory located in Banggai, Central Sulawesi.

"This Banggai ammonia factory is the first application of the latest ammonia technology in the world, while at the same time placing Indonesia at the forefront of producing ammonia," he explained.

According to him, Indonesia has announced a 29% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030, and Japan is committed to pursuing a zero-carbon emission target by 2050 so that this partnership will benefit Japan and Indonesia in providing affordable and clean energy.

"With this collaboration, the company paves the way for Indonesia to play a leading role in providing future fuel, starting with Blue Ammonia and creating new opportunities for sustainable economic growth," he said.
