Indonesia BOP records Low Deficit of US$0.8 billion in Q4 2021
Jakarta - Bank Indonesia announced Indonesia's balance of payments (BOP) in the fourth quarter of 2021 was a low deficit of US$0.8 billion, supported by a continuing current account surplus, amid a deficit in the capital and financial accounts.
"With this development, the overall BOP in 2021 recorded a fairly high surplus of US$13.5 billion," said Head of the BI Communications Department Erwin Haryono in an official publication in Jakarta on Friday (18/2).
According to Erwin, the balance of payments surplus was higher than the previous year's record of US$2.6 billion.
This development was supported by the current account surplus and the capital and financial account surplus.
The current account in 2021 posted a surplus of US$3.3 billion (0.3% of GDP) after posting a deficit in 2020 of US$4.4 billion (0.4% of GDP).
