Brief of Company Background
The company was established on 10 August 1955 at the Jakarta under the name of Bank Central Asia NV. BCA continued to develop its business and it became a licensed foreign exchange bank in 1997. When the economic crisis bit Indonesia in 1997, the company was one among the so many bank effected, causing its liquidity to be depleted to such an extent that the company was taken over by Indonesian Banking Restructuring Agency (IBRA) and placed under the Agency's banking recapitalization and restructuring program. And yet in the years that followed BCA managed to recover and even improved its performance, and was released from IBRA's supervision on 28 April 2000. In May 2000, the company made a strategic move to convert its corporate status to a publicly listed company by offering of its 662,400,000 shares with a par of Rp 500 per share at the offering price of Rp 1,400 per share
