Brief of Company Background
The company was expanded to the manufacturing of tires for automobiles, bus and truck and heavy equipment vehicles. In 1961 it changed its name to PT Gadjah Tunggal. At the time of this expansion, the company relocated its factory from the Bandengan area of North Jakarta to a 55 ha site, in Tangerang, West Java. At the end of 1996 the company had an annual production capacity of 13.3 million automobile tires and 9.2 million motorcycle’s tires. In 1995, the company acquired 51% stakes of PT Langgeng Bajapratama, a manufacturer of steel wire and bead wire. On May 1995 the company launched a new Savero tires, designed specifically for jeeps.
